Below is an example of how you can save with Register Rewards. This scenario can be used at Walgreen's 6/19-6/25.
First Transaction
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor System: $9.89
Use $4.00 coupon from the 6/5 P&G Insert
Pay out of pocket: $5.89
A $5.00 Register Reward (remember, you use Register Rewards on your next purchase) will print from the register when you check out.
Final cost of razor after RR: $0.89!
Second Transaction:
Buy 3 cans Hunt's Tomato Sauce with in ad coupon: $1.00
Buy One Dozen Eggs with in ad coupon: $0.99
Buy 6 rolls Viva Paper Towel: $5.99
Use $2.00 of Viva Walgreen's Coupon
Use your $5.00 Gillette RR from the first transaction
Pay out of pocket: $0.98
You bought 1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide, 3 cans Hunt's Tomato Sauce, one dozen eggs, and 6 rolls of Viva Paper towels for $6.87!
There are many combinations of products, coupons, and RR's that will save you money. I used this simple scenario to show you how it works. Remember, if you use a manufacturer coupon on every item in your purchase and you also pay with a RR, you have to use a filler item such as the dozen eggs for $0.99 (you get that price by using the coupon that is printed in the weekly circular. The cashier can scan it directly from the ad and it will deduct the correct amount from each one you purchase, so you don't have to have 3 coupons for 3 items). Also, if you plan to buy more than one of the same item that prints a RR, separate them into different transactions so that each RR will print. And don't use a Colgate toothbrush RR to pay for another Colgate toothbrush because the 2nd RR will not print.
You are probably wondering, "How does she know what is going to be on sale next week??" I Heart Wags displays the weekly circular several weeks ahead of time. Then, you can go to Sunday Coupon Preview to get a heads up on the coupons that will be in the weekend papers.
This can seem a little complicated at first, so please don't hesitate to ask questions!! This blog is here to help you make cents of couponing and if you leave here confused, I haven't accomplished my goal!
